Duramax 6.6L Bypass Oil Filtration System — 2001–2026
Configure your EXTREME2 bypass oil filter kit for your vehicle year, oil-return connection, and preferred mounting location. The pressure line supplies engine oil to the bypass filter; the return line sends filtered oil back to the engine.

Both mounting options are available across the vehicle-year and return configurations below. Check under-hood clearance before choosing your mount.
Under-the-Hood Mount — Recommended When Clearance Allows
Our preferred mounting location provides easier access during installation, helps make installation faster, and makes routine oil and filter-element changes easier to perform.
Not compatible with vehicles equipped with dual alternators. Choose Frame Mount if your vehicle has dual alternators or if other under-hood equipment leaves insufficient room for the bracket and filter housing.
Frame Mount — Lower-Cost Option
Mounts the filter housing to the vehicle’s frame. Choose this option to save a little on the kit or when under-hood equipment prevents use of the Under-the-Hood Mount.

*VSE return requires a separate, compatible VSE CCV upgrade kit and modification of its aluminum oil filler cap. See the requirements below.
Oil Filler Cap Return — 2001–2016
Filtered oil returns through the supplied Insane Diesel oil filler cap and return fitting. This is the return configuration for the 2001–2016 kits.
OEM Pan or Aftermarket Pan Return — 2017–2026
Choose this option for an original factory (OEM) oil pan or a compatible aftermarket oil pan. Owners of compatible aftermarket pans select this same option. The kit includes the oil-pan return adapter and fittings; the OEM pan connection returns oil through the drain-plug location.
VSE CCV Upgrade Oil Return — 2017–2026 L5P
This alternative returns filtered oil through the aluminum oil filler cap supplied with a compatible VSE CCV upgrade kit. Choose it if your vehicle has, or will have, the correct VSE kit installed and you want to use that cap as the return connection.
- Separate VSE kit required: Purchase the VSE CCV upgrade kit that matches your vehicle year. Insane Diesel does not sell or include the VSE kit or its oil filler cap.
- Cap modification required: The VSE aluminum oil filler cap must be tapped to 1/8-inch NPT to accept our supplied return fitting.
- Tapping is your responsibility: Insane Diesel does not perform this modification. Arrange for a qualified installer to prepare the cap before connecting the return line.

Pressure Connection — Fittings Included
2001–2019 kits include both straight-thread and tapered-thread pressure-port adapters. No thread-type selection is needed when ordering. During installation, use only the adapter that matches your vehicle’s pressure-port plug.
2020–2026 kits include the application-specific pressure-port fitting for this year range.
2001–2019: Identifying the Correct Pressure Adapter
Have your installer identify the vehicle’s existing plug and use the matching adapter. The two adapter styles are not interchangeable.
1. Locate the plug. The red circle identifies the pressure-port plug to inspect.
2. Compare the plug. Your installer can loosen or remove it as needed to identify the thread and sealing style shown below.
- Use the straight-thread adapter for the plug style with a flat shoulder or ledge that seats against the engine. The plug may have a washer, crush washer, or O-ring.
- Use the tapered-thread adapter for the tapered plug style shown without a sealing ledge, washer, crush washer, or O-ring.
Use the plug’s shape and sealing features together; a missing washer alone does not confirm the thread type. If the type is unclear, have your installer verify it before fitting an adapter.
Access notes: Removal difficulty varies by vehicle. Customer-reported access tips include using a shorter hex tool and, where appropriate, safely raising and supporting the vehicle to allow the suspension to hang. Your mechanic should determine the appropriate access and removal method.
Included Hose
Hose ships uncut as one continuous length. The total length supplied depends on your vehicle year, mounting location, and oil-return connection. Measure the final routing before cutting the pressure and return lines.

Shared Components
- EXTREME2 bypass oil filter housing — HX2SHBK, HX2SHBLU, or HX2SHRED, according to housing color.
- EXTREME2 filter element — EX2ME, with O-rings GX1/2.
- 2 Inlet/outlet fittings — AN06-04MS90.
- LW06BK hose — supplied as one uncut length according to your selected configuration; see the hose table above.
Mounting Hardware — According to Your Selection
- Frame Mount: ZBRCKX12 bracket with mounting hardware.
- Under-the-Hood Mount: SA_D66 bracket with mounting hardware.
Pressure Components — According to Vehicle Year
- 2001–2019 — Both Adapter Styles Included: Straight-thread adapter 6MBPRR with O16 O-ring, tapered-thread adapter 6MBPTRR, and fittings AN06-02MP90 and AN06-06FJ. Install the adapter that matches your vehicle’s pressure port.
- 2020–2026: AN06-20MMx1.5 pressure-port fitting, O20 O-ring, and AN06-06FJ90 fitting.
Return Components — According to Your Selection
- 2001–2016, Oil Filler Cap Return: 1 FLLCDUO oil filler cap, ODU O-ring, and AN06-02MS90 fitting.
- 2017–2026, OEM Pan or Aftermarket Pan Return: 1 MD175 oil-pan return adapter, O12 O-ring, and AN06-02MS90 fitting.
- 2017–2026, VSE CCV Upgrade Oil Return: 1 AN06-02MS90 return elbow for the modified VSE oil filler cap. The VSE kit, cap, and cap tapping are not included.

Fitting torque: For the aluminum straight-thread fittings in the 2020–2026 kit, do not exceed 60 inch-pounds. Follow the applicable installation instructions for all other connections.

- Pickup Diesel Engines: 15,000 miles, 250 hours, or 1 year, whichever comes first.
- Gas Engines: 20,000 miles, 250 hours, or 1 year, whichever comes first.
EXTREME3 and EXTREME4 Filter Change Interval:
- Heavy-Duty Diesel Engines: 25,000 miles, 500 hours, or 1 year, whichever comes first.

U.S. Shipping
We may occasionally use a shipping carrier different from the one selected at checkout to improve delivery speed, protect fragile items, or reduce overall shipping and handling costs, including packaging and processing.
Expedited Shipping Policy:
Selecting expedited shipping (Overnight, 2-Day, etc.) does not include order processing time. Please allow 1–2 business days for processing, excluding weekends.

International Shipping
International shipping charges are calculated at checkout and do not include customs duties, taxes, brokerage fees, or tariffs imposed by your country upon import. These fees are not controlled by Insane Diesel and vary by location and local regulations.
Customers are solely responsible for all import-related charges. We strongly recommend contacting your local customs office or postal service in advance to understand applicable fees before placing an order.

Return & Refund Policy
General Return Policy
Due to the nature of aftermarket automotive components, returns are not accepted for buyer’s remorse, incorrect ordering, or compatibility issues. Customers are responsible for verifying vehicle compatibility prior to purchase. We encourage reviewing installation guides and confirming pressure and return port locations before ordering.
Products that have been installed, used, modified, contaminated with oil or fluids, or show signs of installation are not eligible for return or refund, except where required by law.
Any return request must be approved in advance. Returns sent without authorization may be refused.
Damaged, Defective or Missing Items
All products are inspected prior to shipment. If your order arrives damaged or defective, you must notify us within 7 business days of delivery and provide clear photos of the damage and packaging.
Only unused items in original condition are eligible for replacement or refund. Upon inspection and confirmation, you may choose between a replacement or a full refund.
Missing components must be reported within 15 days of the delivery date. Each order is packed individually to help ensure all components are included and to maintain quality control. A packing slip/manifest is included with every shipment; please review it upon delivery to verify that all components were received.
Approved Returns & Refunds
In rare cases where a return is approved (outside of damage on arrival), requests must be made within 30 days of delivery.
Approved refunds will be issued minus:
- Return shipping costs
- Original outbound shipping costs (even if free shipping was offered)
- Payment processing fees charged by Shopify (approximately 2.4–2.5% + $0.30)
Refunds are issued to the original payment method after returned items are received and inspected.

Anodized Finish:
Our housings feature a high-quality anodized finish. Because anodized colors can photograph differently under various lighting conditions, the color shown online may appear slightly different in person. Minor tone, shading, or finish variation can also occur naturally from the anodizing process and is a normal characteristic of this type of premium finish.
Product Images:
Product images, especially kit photos, may show earlier versions of certain components. Some parts have since been updated to newer, improved generations and may appear slightly than images. These are the main components that have changed:
• Oil filler caps no longer come with brass swivel center. Replaced with new generation cap that works with our upgraded swivel fittings.
• Fittings in images may have changed slightly as we rolled out with improved versions for simplified installation.
• Steel or brass fittings in images may have changed to our new black fittings to reduce the need for multiple connection points.
• Some mounting brackets have been updated for easier and more convenient access.
